Gill St. Bernard’s Varsity Tennis - Northwestern University Navy ROTC

I started working with NBD Athletics at the beginning of my freshman year of high school when I was 14 years old. Alex improved my balance and coordination, while Antonio increased my endurance and transformed me into a more explosive athlete. While progress always feels slow in the moment, looking back now, the results speak for themselves; with their help, I was able to make the high school varsity tennis team as 2nd doubles my freshman year, then leaped to the 2nd singles spot my sophomore year. My junior season was canceled due to COVID-19, and I remained at 2nd singles my senior year as team captain. However, my win record had increased dramatically, going from 25% (3-9) my sophomore season to 90% (9-1) my senior season. I attribute a lot of my success to the superior athletic conditioning provided to me by NBD, which allowed me to compete at the highest level against both my teammates, and my opponents.

NBD Athletics has taught me that there is so much more to being a healthy athlete than just being big, fast, and strong. Proper resting, recovering, stretching, mobility, and mentality are key. Antonio in particular has always been a huge proponent of “mind over matter,” but instead of just preaching it to me, the challenges he has set for me in the gym have allowed me to prove it to myself again and again. Learning how to control my mentality has not only helped me be a better tennis player, but has also made me a better sport, a better person, and a better leader.

As a freshman at Northwestern University, the long-term benefits of working with NBD Athletics are already evident. I am now confident both in and out of the gym; I know how to get the most out of my workouts, and the healthy habits instilled in me by NBD allow me to effectively take care of my body. As a Navy ROTC midshipman, NBD has physically prepared me to meet the highest physical fitness standards of the Marine Corps and has helped mentally prepare me for the challenge of leading future Marines. Working with NBD Athletics has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my life, and it will have one on yours too!

Former Division 3 Baseball Player - Rutgers/Bard College

If not for Antonio I would not have had the opportunity to play college baseball or let alone make any of the baseball teams I played on. When I first met him, I was a sophomore in high school and knew nothing about athletic training, just simple exercises your stereotypical father would teach you like bench press, curls, and the occasional squat. When I walked into the gym I was measured on every part of my body and I felt a little shocked because I didn’t care how big I was but rather wanted to be more explosive. Little did I know I was so wrong when my first session with Antonio happened. I bent, lifted, and ran in ways that I have never thought an athlete would do because I was just so uneducated on this at the time. But that just shows his willingness to learn and adapt to new and fantastic concepts into his routine so that he can make you the best athlete you can be. When I went to college to play baseball I missed having the workouts Antonio had me doing because I knew they were making me not just stronger but move better and overall improved my body health greatly. My flexibility, explosiveness, and speed all improved when I worked with him and helped me improve my game immensely. In my time knowing Antonio he has single-handedly transformed my former high school's weight room from a place where people wouldn’t put in the work, to what I believe to be the best high school weight room program in the state. He takes the time to tailor the needs of each of his athletes, whether it be baseball, football, and all women's sports. He treats everyone fairly and expects you to put in the work, which everyone would want from their coach, because the amount he puts into you, is a testament to his character and drive for this career. Antonio has helped produce multiple college athletes in all sports and has even trained individuals who compete at the highest level, such as high Division 1 athletes, but also professionals. Yet what else I have noticed from my time with Antonio is also the progress you make outside the gym. The hard work, discipline, and usual soreness from training with him have helped me and I know many others, in everyday life. I always push myself, want to be there for others, and know that I won’t live with any regret if I worked hard. I highly recommend any athlete or anyone looking to improve their overall health should work with Antonio because you will see the results and become a better you.

Drew University Volleyball - Xtreme Volleyball Academy

At my time during NBD Training Zone I do believe that I learned a lot on proper lifting form and how I can even put together my own workout plan without the help from the trainers. I worked with Antonio, Andrew, and Laura, all of them gave me a lot of great tips when working out. I also do believe that the time I spent in NBD helped improved my game play on the volleyball court. They worked on making me stronger, faster, and more coordinated. They were also super flexible whenever there was an abrupt last minute cancellation or concern. I can say that through this place I learned a lot about my body too, the places where I’m particularly weaker and stronger. Antonio here helped me recognize that I have knee valgus, which is something that has be prohibited me from reaching my full potential with my sport. If it wasn’t for the education I got from Antonio and the other trainers, as a Division III NCAA athlete I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you!

Division 1 Baseball Player - St. Bonaventure University

My name is Shannon Costello, and I am currently in my third year playing Division 1 softball at St. Bonaventure University. I started strength and athletic training at NBD as a sophomore in high school. I had no experience lifting prior to coming to NBD, and the training coaches taught me the form at my own pace to prevent injury, while still challenging me in every session. I have worked with several different trainers at NBD over the past 6 years, but most of my time has been spent with Antonio. He has been extremely flexible with my busy schedule, he creates innovative sport-specific workouts, he helps me stay mentally tough to compete at the highest level, and most importantly, he cares about me as a person and an athlete. 3 of my younger brothers also do athletic training at NBD, and have seen noticeable improvement in their performance on the court and the baseball field. Having the opportunity to train with such an incredible staff at NBD for the past 6 years gave me a head start to be a successful division 1 athlete, and I am extremely grateful for my NBD family!

Training at NBD has always been amazing. The trainers are all amazing at what they do, from warm up to finisher. Every time I walk in the gym, everyone has a smile on their face, looking forward to their next rep, lift, or set. I walk in feeling confident in my ability to grow stronger, faster, and more powerful with each rep. The trainers learn the way your body moves quickly and efficiently, and help increase mobility for specific sports or overall mobility. The trainers at NBD also balance your schedule well, reserving time for push days, pull days, and my personal favorite leg days. With the wide variety of equipment, the exercises are always interesting and challenging. Pushing to the limits with NBD has become a part of my day that I always look forward to. Thanks to all the trainers there for pushing me to be a better athlete!

I decided to start lifting and begin speed and agility training in high school. I had no idea where to start or the best place in my area, but my friend Shannon suggested NBD. I immediately felt welcomed by the employees and community there. The trainers were very knowledgeable and emphasized the importance of form as I began my lifting journey. I noticed an improvement in my strength, speed, and agility and felt as though I was seeing improvements on the field.
